The third annual prostate screening session, sponsored by Ironbridge Lions and Rotary clubs, was held at the Haberdashers Abraham Darby Academy on Monday 25th March. This was the first time we had used the Ab Dab for our prostate testing and it proved to be ideally suited to the purpose. 15 Phlebotomists took blood from around 560 men with waiting times significantly less than in previous years. Lift access to the first floor testing area also meant that we could provide easy access for those in wheel chairs or with mobility problems. As in previous years, no charge was made for testing but donations were invited towards the £17 cost of each test.
Overall it was a very successful event and the following email message was typical of many comments received from those who came for testing:
A big ” thank you ” to all involved in the organising and running of the prostate event on the 25th March. The venue with its parking facilities was excellent and from the moment David walked through the door and was handed his “pack” the attention to detail was second to none. So much help was available if needed from all the volunteers to assist in the smooth running of the whole process that it was a pleasure to attend.
Kind regards,
Monica
