Wouldn’t it be good if there was a simple service to enable the emergency services to access critical personal and medical information in the event of an emergency in your home? Well there is – it’s called “Message in a bottle” and it’s provided free of charge by your local Lions club. The system allows you to record your essential information – name, any medical conditions or allergies, medication, details for next of kin and emergency contacts – in a standard form which is stored in a plastic “bottle” stored in the fridge. The emergency services, alerted by the provided green stickers will locate the bottle and use the forms inside to ensure you are treated quickly which can save time and save lives. Who is it for? Everyone – clearly it’s particularly appropriate for those with serious medical conditions but the fact that you have no medical conditions or allergies could be valuable information to the emergency services in the event of an accident at home. How do you get one? You may find bottles displayed in your doctors surgery, chemists or other public locations but if not just use the contact form on our web site http://ironlions.org.uk/contact/ or text Colin on 07970 417497.
