With this year’s President Jim Philbin hailing from Fife, there was a very clear Caledonian theme to our 2019 Charter held on 3rd March at the Valley Hotel in Ironbridge. Over 80 people, our best attendance for some years, enjoyed an excellent meal which included a taste of a Haggis which was piped in with traditional ceremony.
Following the meal, the President made presentations to Charter Member Gordon Weston and to ex-members Mavis Derham and June Softley while Guest of Honour David Baxter-Smith presented a Lions Centennial plaque to nurse Julie Rich in recognition of the leading part she has played in the club’s prostate screening programme
