41st anniversary of the grant of their Charter on 1st March with a lunch at the Valley Hotel Ironbridge. The hotel is situated on the Severn Riverbank just above the recent flood line but almost all the roads leading to it were impassable until 2 days before the lunch. Even on Sunday, many of the buildings in the immediate vicinity were still suffering serious flooding and the hotel was acting as the temporary home to local residents forced to evacuate their homes during the previous week.

Despite these problems, the 41st Charter was a very successful event. 55 members and guests enjoyed an excellent lunch followed by entertainment from comedy magician Paul Ray. Guests included members from Bridgnorth, Whitchurch, Llandudno, Gnosall and Newport,Middle Marches and Cannock Lions Clubs together with DG John Chambers who presented the Melvin Jones fellowship to Lion Peter Derham and a 30 year chevron to Lion president John marsh.
