SERVING OUR COMMUNITY

Every Lions Club, and there are 46,000 of them spread across the globe, serves its local community and Ironbridge & Severn Gorge Lions are no exception.  We are sharing some examples of the work we do across Telford, but we can, and want, to do more

CHILDREN & YOUNG PEOPLE

Every child deserves the best start in life but for some that can be difficult.  We have funded away-days for young carers, helped to build new facilities for a children’s nursery and provided Christmas gifts for many who might otherwise not receive one.

HOMELESSNESS

The numbers are increasing. We support outreach teams that provide food, clothing, sleeping bags or tents alongside the temporary housing teams who require household goods, cleaning tools and materials.

MEETING OTHER NEEDS AND AMBITIONS

We help young care leavers get a start in their adult life; we help young people meet their sporting or travel ambitions; we provide dehumidifiers for those whose homes have been flooded, and life-saving defibrillators in communities that do not have access.

                     FOOD POVERTY

Ironbridge Lions have maintained a Christmas food programme for very many years and over the most recent Christmas period the club distributed more than 480 bags of food to those in need. But food poverty is now a year-round problem and we are involved in providing food relief on a monthly basis  throughout the year.
