Once in a while, as Lions we get an opportunity to make dreams come true; just before Christmas we heard from Steph, grandmother of 6-year-old Beau who is currently undergoing chemotherapy at

Princess Royal hospital. Beau was desperate to see Santa but the risk of infection was making it impossible to take her to see him. There was of course a very simple solution to the problem and a few days later the sleigh visited Steph’s house with Santa (bearing a remarkable likeness to President Jim Philbin) on board.

Steph subsequently posted the following on her Facebook page: ”

Well our little woman got to see Santa after all with a very special personal visit. I can assure there wasn’t a dry eye in the house. Thank you so much to our darling neighbours that turned all their Xmas lights on and lined the street to welcome him and wave him goodbye. Thank you to Aly Hales and Becca Boyd for the inspiration, Alison Braid for making it happen and Jim Philbin from Telford Lions for making our little woman’s Xmas wish come true. It was truly magical.

Beau went into the final part of her chemo programme immediately after the New Year and at the end of January we were delighted to hear that after 4 long months of treatment, 2 infections and numerous low blood counts, she was cleared to return to school and was excited to see all her friends again.
