PROSTATE TESTING
Ironbridge Lions ran their first PSA test event at Jubilee House Madeley in 2017 and has provided testing for around 600 men each year from that time. As a club we are proud of that record and particularly proud of the fact that we have never made a charge for any of these tests.All our prostate tests - each of which now costs around £27 - have been funded entirely by voluntary donation.
THE BAD NEWS
- Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men.
- More than 52,000 men in the UK are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year on average. – that's 144 men every day.
- Every 45 minutes one man dies from prostate cancer – that's more than 12,000 men every year.
- 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime.
THE GOOD NEWS
- A cancer diagnosis need not be a death sentence
- More than 95% of men will survive their cancer for at least 1 year
- More than 90% of men will survive their cancer for at least 5 years
- Almost 80% of men will survive their cancer for 10 years or more
- A simple blood test could save your life

A prostate test is a simple blood test which takes just a few minutes. Long queues are a thing of the past - we now expect the whole process to take no more than 15 minutes.
