On occasional Summer Sundays For the past 35 years, ironbridge Lions have been laying strips of parcel tape across the Iron Bridge and inviting passing visitors to lay down their spare coins. Over the years this has raised many thousands of pounds for a whole host of charities but this year of course, with the bridge gift-wrapped in white plastic sheeting, that is impossible – but we have a cunning plan! Jim Philbin, our ever-ingenious Vice-President is busy building a replica, 8 feet long in Plywood and, assuming that he gets the construction finished in time, this will get it’s first outing on Easter Sunday when we will be collecting for Marie Curie.
It’s Silver Over The Bridge Jim – But not as we know it!!
