Our second Silver over the Bridge session of the 2019 season, in early May, was in aid of Telford Parkinson’s support group. This was a group which had impressed us enormously when we invited local groups to bid for a place in the SOB schedule.- and they continued to impress us on the day. One of he conditions for the selected local groups is that they should be actively involved in the collection so that they could engage with the donating public And involved they certainly were despite it being a fairly chilly day. Carol Scott, the Secretary of the group, spent all day with us, and around a dozen group members joined us for periods during the day.
As we had hoped, the involvement of the group added significantly to the success of the day, both in terms of the level of Parkinson’s-related engagement with the public and in the level of donations. We were delighted to be able to attend a subsequent group meeting when Community Services Chair Graham Powell presented a cheque for £500.
