Our first Silver over the Bridge event of the 2019 took place on Easter Sunday. As usual, each of our eight SOB events this year will be for a different charity and this one was in aid of the Midlands Air Ambulance. A gloriously sunny day brought in the visitors and gave us what is probably the most successful bridge event since we started these collections almost 40 years ago. Our first SOB took place in August 1980 and raised £132. Our Collections since then have raised a considerable amount of money for local and national charities but so far as we know, we have never actually succeeded in getting our line of coins right across the bridge. On Easter Sunday we got very close to a complete transit and, more importantly, when we counted the donations we found that we had a record figure of £650 to pass over to the Air Ambulance.
